Cheval Equestrian Center is pleased to host a clinic by: Patty Stoval
January 10 & 11
Born and raised in Portland CT, Patty began riding with her Mom probably before she could walk. After many successful years showing in the CT horses shows, she started riding with George Morris. In her final junior year, as a working student with George, she was second in the AHSA Medal Finals in Harrisburg on a 4-year-old horse that she had trained. This horse would be just the first of many horses that would end up with very successful careers under Patty’s training.
After her junior years, she started working for Brass Lantern Farms & Otis Brown, Jr. in Nashville, TN. During those years, she and Brownie trained many successful Hunters and Jumpers. Some of their most notable successes were in the International Hunter Futurity, a hunter competition for 3 yr. Olds, amassing 8 championships over the years.
After starting her own business, Patty, with the help of her husband, Ken, purchased the horse that would ultimately would define her career. Mont Cenis (affectionately know as Monty), a 5 yr. old jumper prospect, who through many years formed a partnership that resulted in being the highest placed American Rider (13th) at the 1994 World Equestrain Games in The Hague and Holland. They continued their winning ways and in 1996 won the 1st Olympic Trial and ended up 8th overall in the bid for the Olympics.
In 1997, Patty began working at Top Brass Farms in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she discovered another horse that would bring her and owner Daryl Portella, tremendous success back in the Hunter ring. Having just come out of the jumper ranks, Frascati, ended up being a perfect match for Patty and Daryl, winning Horse of the Year honors in 1999 and 2000 in both the Regular Working and the Amateur Owner Hunter Divisions.
